Trip-Leader Subsidy

To encourage our community to run trips, we subsidize leaders up to $10 per non-leader participant based on the lowest of either the cost for the trip leader, or the average cost per participant.

For every 10 participants, 1 leader can apply. For example, if there were 21-30 non-leader participants, then 3 leaders can apply.

    • The trip should be announced at a general meeting or over the slack, preferably at least a week before the trip takes place.

    • The trip must be open to all MOC members possessing the pre-requisite skills and experience. There can be a maximum number of participants.

    • The leader must fill out this form. This includes detailed info about the trip, a receipt with an amount greater than or equal to the claim, and a proof of payment.

    • The leader must also be a participant (i.e., must organise, lead, and attend).

    • The executive has final say over who is able to qualify for the subsidy (i.e., what constitutes a trip)

Adventure Grant

The MOC provides a grant to a group of members to help finance an exhilarating trip. It is awarded twice a year — about halfway through each semester. The executives vote on the best application, especially considering feasibility, budget, sustainability, and stoke. The amount varies each semester but is typically around $400. Specific details and requirements are provided each semester, but generally:

  • The group must have at least 2 MOC members at the time of the application
  • The trip must be human-powered (besides the transportation to get there)
  • The trip must happen before a specified deadline
  • The trip must afterwards be presented (e.g., via slideshow or video) at an MOC meeting.

Membership Bursary

In an effort to make our club more financially accessible, we offer a bursary which covers the cost of an MOC membership.

Requirements:

  • Be a McGill student
  • Self-identify as needing financial assistance
  • Be interested in the outdoors

To apply, please fill out this form and you will be contacted by an executive. Please note that we can only allocate a few bursaries each year.
